January 25 , 2021

All locations are currently open either for appointment or normal business. Hopewell and Prince George are open for normal in-person activity. The Burrowsville, Carson, Dinwiddie, Disputanta, McKenney, and Rohoic are open by appointment only. You can visit any of these locations by calling and making a 1 hour (or shorter) appointment at the branches open by appointment. During your visit you can browse, and use library technology including computers, copiers, and more. Appointments will be limited to individuals or members of the same household, such as a parent and children, or husband, wife, or spouse. Staff will be available for socially distanced assistance. Place your items on hold, wait to receive a notification that your items are ready, and drive on over! Once you’re outside call 804-458-6329 x 2960 and we will place your items on the table. We ask that you wear a mask for everyone’s safety.

Our Disputanta location located at 10010 County Drive, Disputanta, VA 23842 is now open for curbside pick up. Place your items on hold, wait to receive a notification that your items are ready, and drive on over! Once you’re outside call 804-458-6329 x 2930 and we will place your items on the table. Update November 30, 2020

We are expanding our openings. Two branches are opening up for in-person visits! You can visit either Dinwiddie or McKenney by calling and making a 1 hour (or shorter) appointment. Update October 16, 2020
Our Prince George and Hopewell Library are open to the public with reduced hours. Carson, Dinwiddie, and McKenney are only available for curbside pickup  All book drops are open at all locations.Curbside services are available upon request at Hopewell and Prince George until an hour before closing. Dinwiddie  Library’s curbside hours will expand to their original hours starting October 19, 2020. Update: September 23, 2020 Carson Library’s curbside hours will expand to their original hours with adjusted Saturday Hours, starting September 28, 2020. Our McKenney Library also offers curbside pickup during their normal operating hours. Update: August 3, 2020 ARLS continues to open library locations with modified hours and safety protocols. The Prince George Library will reopen August 3rd. Additional locations will be opened as appropriate safety measures are in place. You can still take part in curbside pickup until an hour before the library closes. Prince George’s extension is 2970 Prince George hours will be: 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Thursday 10 am to 5 pm Friday and Saturday. Update: July 22, 2020  We are carefully expanding our services, and while many of our branches are awaiting the installation of safety equipment and procedures we are adding an extra curbside location at our Dinwiddie Library starting Monday, July 27th! Hopewell Hours (x1001) [Open] Monday-Thursday 9 am to 7 pm Friday and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm Carson Curbside Hours (x2910) [curbside only] Monday 10 am to 1 pm Wednesday 2 pm to 5 pm Dinwiddie Curbside Hours (x 2920) [curbside only] Monday 2 pm to 5 pm Wednesday 10 am to 1 pm Prince George Curbside Hours (x2970) [curbside only] Tuesday 10 am to 1 pm Thursday 2 pm to 5 pm Update: July 2, 2020  ARLS will begin to reopen branch locations starting with the Hopewell Library with modified hours and safety protocols. Additional locations will be opened as appropriate safety measures are in place. Hopewell’s hours will be from 9 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday and  9 am to 5 pm Friday and Saturday. Staff will be taking extra steps to clean the library including the public computers. Due to social distancing the number of public computers will be fewer, and patrons must reserve a computer at the front desk. Scanning is not available at this time, but faxing and copying are available. Meeting rooms will remain closed at this time. Library visitors will have to maintain 6 feet social distancing and must follow the governor’s directive to wear a mask while in all parts of the library. Curbside service will continue at Prince George and Carson. Curbside pick-up will be available at Hopewell upon request by calling 804-458-6329. Carson’s extension is 2910, Prince George’s extension is 2970, and Hopewell’s extension is 1001. Please wait until you hear the director’s recording saying “The Appomattox Regional Library” before dialing your extension. Update: June 16, 2020  Book Drops Open!
  • All book drops are open at all locations.
  • Books will be quarantined for at least 72 hours, so there will be a delay on your account.
  • No accounts will be charged overdue fines for the remainder of the summer to allow plenty of time for returns.
  • If you find a full book drop, please hold on to your items and check back later. Email us at [email protected] to let us know where it is full!
  • We are still offering Curbside pick up at Hopewell, Prince George, and Carson Library.
Update: May 15, 2020 Starting Monday May 18th we are opening three locations, Hopewell, Prince George, and Carson, for Curbside Pick-Up! You will need to put an item on hold to be notified for curbside service. If you already have an item on hold from before the closures we will call you to plan the pick-up. You can place items on hold on our catalog. You will need to have your library card number and PIN. You can also call us during the open hours listed below. ARLS Curbside Pick-up FAQ ARLS Curbside Pickup Information  Update:  March 24, 2020 The Administration and Staff of the Appomattox Regional Library System take concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus seriously. The library has decided to close all branches until FURTHER NOTICE (Hopewell will reopen 7.6.2020). We take this action out of an abundance of caution at the recommendation of state and local authorities.

All items checked out during this time will not accrue overdue charges. If you are able, please keep all materials with you and do not return the items. We will keep patrons updated with opening news as soon as we are able.

You can borrow materials online from the library through the library’s Overdrive, Hoopla, and RBDigital accounts. Overdrive gives access to books and audiobooks. Hoopla gives access to books, audiobooks, music and movies. Hoopla’s resources are always available with no waiting period for borrowing.  RBDigital provides access to audiobooks and digital magazines.
